LEAGUE UPDATE REGARDING TEACHER STRIKE
We know there is some concerns about how our school gym bookings with the potential teacher strike starting next week.
We have received confirmation from the City that the bookings will continue in the event of the strike unless the support staff are laid off during that time. They are supposed to receive 10 days notice prior to layoffs.
Also, if you are a teacher, please reach out to your union if you have any concerns about being able to play in the schools as a person of the public and not a school representative, whether it is your school division school or not.
We will not be checking into people's backgrounds for who is prohibited/permitted to be in what schools regarding the strike.
Unfortunately, in these matters, the rumor mill will run rampant. Unless information has been confirmed, we will not be acting upon it. The Board will continue to keep the league updated as the situation evolves and as we receive information from the City.
