A libero is a defensive specialist who only plays in the back row, and who cannot block or attack the ball when it is above the height of the net (this includes anywhere on the court or free zone). A team can only have one libero per set and they must wear a contrasting jersey to the rest of the team.
For our league, the team using a libero must let their opponent know prior to the game starting. As for the jersey, well, since most teams do not have jerseys, let alone contrasting ones, the team captain (or delegate) needs to be very clear to their opponents who the libero is.
Just remember, a libero cannot be playing in the front row. Whomever they sub out in the back row, that player has to re-enter the game when their position moves to the front row.
