Again, we have had complaints about kids misbehaving in the schools. As a board, we have discussed the matter. This behaviour will no longer be tolerated. This is the final generic warning the league will put out to the teams and we are moving forward with assigning penalties.
If your team is identified in having children/youth misbehaving in the school (this includes but is not limited to them running around the courts during play or in any other areas of the school outside of the gym, using school property, being disrespectful etc.), the following will happen:
1. First offence – a written and/or verbal warning will be given to your team
2. Second offence – A $50 fine, payable to the Grande Prairie Ladies Volleyball League
a. Your team will not be permitted to play until fine is paid.
b. Games will be forfeited until fine is paid.
c. Your team is not permitted to attend until fine is paid.
3. Third offence – A $100 fine, payable to the Grande Prairie Ladies Volleyball League
a. Your team will not be permitted to play until fine is paid.
b. Games will be forfeited until fine is paid.
c. Your team is not permitted to attend until fine is paid.
4. Fourth offence – your team will be removed from the league.
If this continues to be an issue, we may have to look at banning children from all GPLVL events (games and tournament).
The league is built on respect between the board, the teams, the players and our partnering agencies. The children/youth behaving in this manner can be detrimental to the league. There is frustration for the teams trying to enjoy their night of play, the facilities who have graciously provided the league with space for our growing league, and for the board that must repeat the rules and responsibilities to teams and all players in the league.
We strive to keep our league a fun and enjoyable one, but we can only do this with the participation of all. Should you have any questions or concerns with this decision, please reach out to the GPLVL board and we will be happy to discuss.
